Out of this world sound
Famous for a powerfully otherworldly sound that separated it distinctly from its competitors, the Synthi V captures a raw, aggressive quality that’s unlike anything else. The Synthi became a powerhouse in British space rock, soundtracks, and electronica. Although this sound famously lends itself to special effects, it also injects leads, basses, and atmospheres with a bold sound with undeniably psychedelic energy. Arturia's exclusive True Analog Emulation (TAE) technology models and reproduced every nuanced behaviour of the original's components to present an authentically characterful sound.
Authentic control and workflow
A faithful reproduction of the original Synthi AKS interface captures all the charm of the original while incorporating a handful of small additional features that add up to a big difference. At the heart of Synthi's powerful sound design features is the iconic "Battleship" pinboard, capturing all the flexibility of modular gear in a compact form. Presenting sources vertically and destinations horizontally, this is origin of the modulation matrix that has become so prevalent today. Simply patch audio and control signal to destination by clicking on the virtual keyboard and discover new sonic possibilities. From simple filter oscillations to all-out catastrophic sound mangling. The pinboard is easier to use than ever and offers an all-new sample and hold generator row for exciting non-linear modulation effects. Beyond the pinboard you can expect the same features that made the original a classic, including enhanced VCOs, modulation joystick, and legacy sequencer.
Modern enhancements and Advanced Panel
Synthi V's Advanced Panel takes an already hugely powerful sound design tool and gives you more control than ever. Arturia has taken care to remain faithful to the original hardware while adding features that were not possible on the original. Functions offer the ability to modulate as either an LFO, a complex multi-segment envelope, or anything in between. Route up to five of them throughout Synthi V to develop dynamic shifts in sound. The iconic pinboard gets an upgrade with an additional modern modulation matrix offering control sources such as velocity, aftertouch, and an extra LFO. Plus, you can route the master output through up to three effects at once either in series or parallel, including ping-pong delay, reverb, chorus and more.
Powered by technology
Using proprietary modelling algorithms, Synthi V is able to recreate the iconic instruments down to the component parts to create unrivalled realism and immersion. Unmatched in analog emulation, Synthi V is powered by TAE and Phi technologies. TAE offers component-level modelling to accurately present the characteristics and behaviour of the instrument, whilst Phi's state-of-the-art physical modelling brings the acoustic properties into the virtual world for hyper-realism. The result is truly a next-level sound that is indistinguishable from the original to add to your productions.
Reviews
"Original Synthi's are always a pain to use musically, The Synthi V captures the character of the original machine, but far surpasses the original in its ease of use and is now my go-to soft-synth for characterful analog sounds" - Tom Furse
"I am very inspired by the new Synthi V which has a lot of charisma. The scalable 4K resolution gives me the feeling of having the real analog synth in my hands. 10/10." - Sasha Carassi
"Synthi is so rare that even the most basic sounds you can make with it already sound unique, just by sheer scarcity, so I've been enjoying just recreating my usual go-to sounds on it in place of whatever soft-synth I'd normally reach for." - Jake Miller
