What’s new in FX Collection 2

Seven new plugins are introduced with Arturia FX Collection 2, taking the count up to a whopping 22 plugins in total. New additions to the plugin suite include: Bus Force, Comp DIODE-609, EQ SITRAL-295, Chorus DIMENSION-D, Phaser BI-TRON, Flanger BL-20 and Chorus JUN-6. One of the most prominent new plugins is the DIODE-609 which provides you with a faithful recreation of a classic stereo compressor and limiter.

The DIODE-609 is based on a 33609 compressor/limiter which is great for drums thanks to its crunchy response and classic analog warmth. Bus Force is a virtual channel strip and parallel processor comprised of four distinct modules. The strip includes a filter, EQ, compressor and saturator which can be re-arranged to suit your sound-shaping needs. The SITRAL-295 provides a faithful recreation of a classic Siemens Broadcast-style console, providing subtle musical curves with a warm transistor feel.

DIMENSION-D is a four-mode stereo chorus plugin that can emulate the warmth of a classic bucket-brigade circuit. BI-TRON is a dual phaser that provides boutique guitar-pedal style phasing with two circuits to choose from, as well as advanced routing. Flanger BL-20 is a faithfully recreated, classic studio gem that spans from faint stereo width to complex compound modulation. Delay TAPE-201 has also been upgraded, providing you with multiple preamp options including no preamp, the original RE-201 preamp, and a newly-modelled Germanium preamp for that signature crunch.

Newly refined preset manager and in-app tutorials

Don’t worry if you haven’t seen or heard of some of the gear included in the collection, there are handy in-app tutorials for each plugin that allow you to learn the gear as you go. You can navigate between thousands of specially-crafted presets using the newly revamped preset manager. Over 200 new presets are included with FX Collection 2, making it easier than ever to make tweaks on the fly. You can even control parameters within the plugins directly from a MIDI controller for advanced integration.

1973-Pre

The 1973-Pre is a faithful recreation of a legendary 1073-style preamp. This now renowned preamp revolutionised the recording world in the 1970s. The original preamp featured an innovative design, utilising high-efficiency transistors, replacing the limited vacuum tube technology. Using the TAE technology, Arturia has recreated this classic preamp, with extreme attention to detail. The virtual model provides the same distinct colouration and analog distortion, as well as the original, sweet-sounding tone controls. The preamp is comprised of a 3-band equalizer, high-pass filter, input gain and output trim controls, complete with vintage-style rotary controls and classic VU meters, for that classic vintage style. You can also switch between L/R and M/S stereo modes, as well as the two transformers for added versatility.

TridA-Pre

The TridA-Pre bases its design on the rare and legendary Trident A Range console. The Trident A Range console was one of the most renowned music consoles on the planet, helping to provide the sound for such acts as: The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, Queen, T-Rex, Genesis and more. It was widely revered for its beautiful sounding musical EQ, providing a full-bodied sound with rich tonality. Only 13 of the consoles were ever made, making them one of the most sought-after mixing consoles ever. Arturia have created a faithful reaction of the preamp and EQ, providing incredible sound-shaping power.

V75-Pre

The V76-Pre bases its design on the coveted V76 preamp, used in the famous Abbey Road studios and incorporated within the REDD mixing consoles. The V76 helped to shape the sound of ‘The White Album’ by The Beatles, thanks to its tube-based warmth and rich tonality. Building on the original design, Arturia have refined the functionality and hand-picked the best elements for added versatility. The gain controls have been made more continuous for added control as well as refining the boost and cut range of the EQ for modern purposes.

VCA-65

The VCA-65 is based on the legendary DBX165A, a compressor unlike any other. Unlike its competition, the 165a used a solid-state VCA to create its compression effect. These days the DBX165A is highly sought after but thanks to Arturia's TAE modelling you're free to use an unlimited amount of VCA-65s when mixing. Not only does it look like its pre-predecessor it also sounds like one. When pushed to the extreme you'll hear the VCA65's characteristic grit. This will add incredible presence and energy to any source. The VCA-65 is the ultimate choice when mixing drums, percussion, and bass.

FET-76

The FET-76 makes everything better. Arturia has authentically modelled the most iconic studio compressor in the world. The combination of the field-effect transistor and Class-A amplifier imparts a subtle yet desirable tone, even at low compression levels. Crank the input and select one of four ratios, or, even engage the "all buttons" mode to really hear the FET based compressor come alive on any source. Drums, bass, vocals, guitars. There's nothing that the 1176 does not excel on. You'll soon realise why the 1176 is the number one choice compressor for industry professionals such as Andrew Scheps, Jacquire King, Glyn Johns.

STA

The Arturia Tube STA faithfully recreates the all-American workhorse. The STA was commonplace in broadcast and recording studios during the golden age of production. The original STA was renowned for its intimacy, silky highs and saturation when pushed. The STA was a mainstay on vocals and bass. This was for its ability to transform weak bottom end energy into warm, harmonically rich tones.

Rev Plate 140

The EMT140 is the ultimate plate reverb. No collection of effects is complete without the inclusion of a luxurious, smooth plate, full of richness. The Rev Plate-140 IS the mother of all plate reverbs. You'll be able to inject tonnes of vintage mojo into your mixes thanks to the inclusion of analog tube preamp with gain compensation. This accentuates the naturally sweet tone of the reverb. The Rev plate comes with three wholly accurate plates; Punchy, EMT and Wonderful. This offers you a versatile range of tonal options to suit your every wants and needs.

Rev Intensity

Not a copy, not an emulation, not a tribute. Rev Intensity will change the way you think about this type of audio effect. Having analyzed and recreated the best studio gear ever made for the FX Collection, Arturia took notes when analysing the classics, combining the best of all things digital into one awesome reverb plugin. Arturia’s developers used cutting-edge algorithmic techniques to create a lush, versatile reverb that sounds fantastic and is easy on your CPU. This is handy as you'll want to use multiple instances once hear it. They also packed it full of innovative presets which make full use of its advanced feature set. There is also an integrated tutorial inserted in the plugin so you can learn as you go.

SPRING-636

Originally invented to add some “space” to the sound of Hammond Organs way back in the 30s, the reverb is a relatively simple design of a suspended spring inside a tank. The sound of the instrument is passed through the spring, and picked up again, blended into the original sound! Thanks to the power of Arturia's TAE and Phi modelling technologies, they’ve been able to recreate everything that made the 636, and spring reverbs in general, so appealing. True Analog Emulation handles the electronic side, analyzing and accurately modelling the way the circuitry works, and how it responds to various audio signals. Phi lets us study the physical nature of the reverb, how the spring reacts, how the tank’s resonance changes the sound. Rest assured you're receiving the closest you can get to the real thing thanks to Arturia.

Tape-201

The holy grail of tape delays, the iconic silver, black, and green-fronted echo unit was loved by countless musicians from all genres and styles. Artists from Radiohead to John Martyn loved its pitch-warping power. A list of famous spacey tape delay users would be impossibly long, but it would be a “who’s who” of influential music legends. Through the magic of their advanced TAE® modelling technology, Arturia are able to perfectly emulate this groundbreaking delay as a plug-in. All of this magic, all of these quirks, and all of this legendary tone are recreated in Arturia Delay TAPE-201.

Memory Brigade

Memory Brigade is Arturia’s love letter to the legendary BBD - or “bucket brigade device” - that created a revolution in time-based modulation effects.One of the first, and certainly the greatest BBD delays was the Memory Man, and the slightly redesigned Deluxe Memory Man created by effects pioneers Electro-Harmonix in the mid-70s.

Guitarists and record engineers loved its unique sound: a dark, filtered bark that was worlds apart from traditional tape delays. We based the Delay MEMORY-BRIGADE on this legendary pedal, so you can enjoy its driven feedback and “rusty” tone in your own productions. Using their exclusive TAE® and Phi® modelling technologies, Arturia have analyzed many classic BBD circuits that made this effect so famous, and created an authentic, analog-sounding tribute to these vintage legends.

Delay Eternity

The Arturia Delay Eternity started on the same drawing board as their award-winning, next-gen software synth Pigments. Not only did they want to create a delay with unreal modulation power, but they also wanted to integrate contemporary features that would let both experimental and traditional producers experience delay like never before.

Mini-Filter

The Mini-Filter bases its design and sound around a renowned Moog-style 24dB low-pass ladder filter. Building on the original design, Arturia have tweaked and updated the filter for the modern music maker. The classic filter featured in Arturia’s Mini V software instrument and now you can add it to your productions as a versatile plugin. The flexible filter provides a rich, warm tone designed for a range of applications. You can use the filter to smooth out audio files or add subtle overtones to a low-level recording. The modulation section is comprised of an envelope follower, step sequencer and an LFO for optimal versatility and sound-shaping capabilities. It also comes complete with a range of presets, designed by award-winning sound designers.

M12-Filter

The M12-Filter is a faithful recreation of the famous multi-mode filter, from Oberheim’s Matrix-12. The sound and parameters have been refined and updated, making it one of the most powerful sound-shaping tools available. The analog filter tone control comes complete with programmable modulation envelopes and a versatile modulation matrix for optimal flexibility. The combination of the comprehensive control section and unique tonality makes the M12-Filter one of the most sought-after virtual effect plugins available. It gives you the ability to create and utilise everything from smooth sweeps to rhythmic patterns. It's even ideal for glitching and sound experimentation thanks to its versatile interface.

SEM-Filter

The SEM-Filter is a faithful recreation of the legendary Oberheim filter the SEM. This versatile filtering plugin is based on the pioneering design from Tom Oberheim. The SEM was one of the most revolutionary filters created at the time, pioneering the sound of the 70s. Arturia have gone to great lengths to ensure they capture the essence of the analog sound and tone, as well as improving and refining the filter for modern-day use. It is ideal for a range of sound-shaping applications, from shaping vocal takes and process instruments, to performing sweeps, builds, drops and more. The filter is comprised of a noise oscillator, soft-clipping SEM circuitry a gate sequencer and modulation sources and a modulation matrix for optimal versatility.
