Authentic CMI experience
With faithful attention Arturia has recreated the iconic look and process of the CMI terminal and has added more real-time controls to edit the most important parameters on the fly. Get to grips with the same powerful workflow that made so many hits with up to ten different instrument slots, each of which can load a different sample or synthesised sound. Open up the Advanced Screen Panel mode to access all settings regarding sound parameters, synthesis, instrument slot controls, sequencing and mixer/effects. All the sound design features offer a truly authentic CMI experience, but with a few modern enhancements that bring the instrument into the 21st century. On the face of the instrument, Arturia has presented a virtual velocity-sensitive keyboard with six assignable sliders and switches. On top of that, there's a bank of eight sliders dedicated to the most used parameters on the original: Filter, Sample Start, Vibrato, Effects Send, and Envelopes.
Modern sound editing complexity
Not only does the CMI V offer all the sound design processes as the original, but they now go deeper than ever. Load any of the ten instrument slots from the original factory disks, or alternatively, design your own sounds with all new Time and Spectral synths. Draw unique envelopes with the Time Synth, up to 32 harmonics make for breathtaking additive timbres. On the other hand, Take control over the entire harmonic series at once with the Spectral Synth for broader strokes of sound design. Once an instrument slot is filled, take independent control over filtering, vibrato, envelope, and more. Plus, enjoy a range of powerful creative features such as the ability to convert any sampled sound to a synthesised one, and vice versa, with one click. Finally, immediately mix with a range of insert FX within a single instance of the plugin. With up to ten instrument tracks, pattern chaining, and graphical step sequencing, the CMI V offers a timeless workflow that fits right into modern production spaces.
Timeless sound
The CMI V has a signature sound palette that fits seamlessly into modern high-resolution projects or can capture lo-fi 80s grit that transports your listeners back in time. The limits are almost endless, and the intuitive interface pushes intrepid sound designers to coax as many different sounds of it as possible. However, Arturia has also included a wide range of professionally designed presets to get you started. Their creations included all the classics, instantly recognisable CMI sounds, as well as entirely new sonic territory.
