The RS-40 Eurorack Module is a highly versatile utility module featuring three varied circuits and sections that you can use for a variety of sound design applications. The RS-40 is comprised of a noise generator, a sample and hold generator and a clock section for optimal flexibility. You can use each of the section independently as well as in conjunction with each other. At the heart of the RS-40 module is the integrated analog noise generation circuit. This classic-style circuit provides analog grit and warmth. The noise generator is ideal for a range of sound design applications, allowing you to create effects such as sweeping noises to generating pads, metallic and percussive sounds and more. It features a dedicated Level attenuator for changing the amplitude, as well as a dedicated output.
The second section of the module is comprised of a sample and hold generator. The sample and hold generator is what made classic synthesizer so sought after, with its classic sound and functionality revolutionising electronic dance music and other sample-based music genres. It works by producing stepped voltage by sample and holding values of the signal presented at the input. The signal can be from a variety of sources including a CV, an external signal from a CD or from a musical instrument. This can be used to experiment with sounds and create new tones from existing sounds. The circuit samples the incoming signal voltage when it Is processed by an external trigger. The highly stable circuit provides a sustainable, constant voltage. The inputs are the source signal input and trigger input. It features a Level attenuator, as well as a one-shot button for controlling your sound. There is also an external SRC input, External Clock input and a dedicated output for maximum compatibility.
The final section of the module is the integrated clock. The clock provides a classic pulse wave at low frequencies, can is widely used as a timer for other modules. It can be used for trigger envelopes and the sample and hold circuit, or as a sync or reset source for external oscillators and LFOs. The clock features a precision attenuator for controlling the frequency range. The frequency range spans from 0.1Hz to 30Hz for a wide variety of selection. It also features a dedicated output and a status for monitoring your clock rate.
