Solid Sitka Spruce Top & Maple Body

The Seagull S8 Mandolin EQ features a solid sitka spruce top which produces a rich, bright, and incredibly versatile tone that only gets better with age. Additionally, the S8's solid top yields a crisp, articulate tone with a broad dynamic range, providing the player with an incredibly versatile soundboard that accommodates a wide variety of strumming and picking techniques with ease. Furthermore, its solid top is attached to a maple body, delivering a bright attack with plenty of bite and stunning sustain. This sonically-pleasing combination of timbers provides the player with a distinct acoustic voice, perfect for experimenting with fingerpicking and strumming techniques. With all this, the Seagull S8 Mandolin creates a traditional sound with plenty of definition and versatility, accommodating traditional and modern folk techniques while being ideal for creating new melodies and adding a distinct sound to a player's musical setup.

Seagull Proprietary Pickup

Equipped with Seagull's own high-fidelity pickup system, the S8 Mandolin becomes ideal for live, studio and rehearsal environments, offering basic controls for enhancing the amplified tone. Additionally, the Seagull S8's pickup system has been described as high-fidelity, meaning the amplified tone is an incredibly natural and pure reflection of the Mandolin's stunning acoustic voice. The player is also able to control the amplified tone via two authentic-looking rotary controls, situated on the S8's solid top. Furthermore, the vintage-inspired rotary knobs control volume and tone, offering basic sound tweaking for live, studio, and rehearsal environments.

Maple Neck & Rosewood Fingerboard

Constructed from maple, the Seagull S8's neck delivers a strong upper mid-range and bright singing highs whilst offering a comfortable playing experience throughout each position up and down the neck. In addition, the S8 Mandolin also has a hand-finished neck which adds to the smooth, comfortable playability while also allowing for the maple's sonic-characteristics to come alive further for a truly pleasing sound. Furthermore, the neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that adds a pleasing, distinct warmth and plenty of clarity to the S8's overall sound.
