Since 1825 Buffet has developed around the recognition of its instrument manufacture. Legacy of the R13

Originally designed in 1955 by the reputable Robert Carree, this clarinet became a huge hit in the USA before becoming a favourite among many professional clarinetists and experienced amateur musicians. The main characteristics of these clarinets are the focused and rich tones combined with its ability to play throughout all registers. They are also extremely versatile and can be played in a number of genres such as orchestras, military bands and jazz.

Grenadilla Wood Body

Unlike other models, the R13 features an African Blackwood (otherwise known as Grenadilla) body. The benefit from this wood body is the unprecedented tone, which is favoured by all professional musicians and has been the professional choice of wood for decades.

Keys and Mechanisms

These Buffet R13 Prestige clarinets have a simple design featuring 18 keys and 6 rings. All keywork is silver plated, which is long lasting and ergonomic - allowing ease of play for the busy professional. This combined with an adjustable thumb rest, makes the R13's very nice to play. All tone holes have been undercut and combined with leather and cork pads, creating a great seal with better intonation and tonal character.
