Strongly inspired by the classic Appalachian Dulcimer, the M4 features diatonic frets, with the intervals following the notes of the major scale, rather than the usual chromatic fretting. This simple fret pattern makes the M4 an exceptionally fun and easy instrument to learn for all players.
Mahogany Body
The M4 features a solid mahogany top and a three-piece rock maple body, giving it a warm, full-bodied tone with excellent projection. It also features a ''moustache'' style Tusq bridge and compensated Tusq saddle for improved clarity and sustain, along with vintage-style open geared tuners and a Satin Oil finish.
Tuning
Like other dulcimer inspired instruments that feature a particular key, the Seagull M4 Natural Mahogany SG is tuned in the key of D, allowing players to jam along with similar tuned instruments.
