The Schecter Blackjack SLS C-1 has a versatile pickup set and fast playing neck specification to deliver searing metal tones with effortless playability. The mahogany body lends warmth and sustain to your sound, and is matched to a maple neck for an increase in harmonic overtones and resonance. Schecter has honed this guitar for metal and rock with an instrument that offers clarity, power, and no barriers to your playing technique.
The Seymour Duncan Full Shred bridge humbucker has a clear and focused output with a slightly scooped mid-range. It has a very articulate response and is perfect for all styles of medium to high gain music.
The Jazz SH-2N neck humbucker is a bright-sounding and vintage-output pickup which stays clean even under extreme distortion. The 'Jazz' name is slightly misleading; this humbucker is more focused on rock and metal performance and has found popularity with players such as Dave Mustaine, Randy Rhoads and Alex Skolnick. The lower output of the Jazz pickup seems counter-intuitive when you are creating high gain sounds. However, this design gives more room for the natural tone of your guitar to come through, and allows you to use your amp and pedals to create the saturation.
These two pickups give the Blackjack SLS C-1 Passive a very versatile tonal output, letting you create high gain sounds, searing solo sustain, articulate riffs, clarity in complex chords and much more. Every tone will have balance and nuance from the passive design which doesn’t over-power your signal and leaves in plenty of detail.
The Blackjack SLS C-1 has a modern neck specification geared towards fast playing. It has a thin 'C' profile that sits comfortably in the hand and a set-neck joint with a low-profile joint. The set-neck "Ultra Access" design and double cutaway body allows you to easily access the whole length of the fingerboard with ease.
The neck is mounted with 24 extra-jumbo frets to provide excellent control of the strings when playing string bends and vibrato. The frets are fixed with a modern compound radius, giving you the perfect balance between low-fret chordal comfort (with a more rounded radius) and high-fret playability (with a flatter radius).
The Blackjack SLS C-1's body is crafted from mahogany for a warm tonal response with great sustain. The neck is maple and adds harmonic overtones and resonance. The ebony fingerboard assists with low-end articulation and provides a smooth playing surface for the left hand.
The Blackjack SLS C-1 has a fixed bridge with string thru body for rock-solid tuning stability and increased string resonance. Grover locking tuners contribute to the stable tuning of the C-1 and the Graph Tech nut gives a low-friction platform for the strings to sit. This hardware is chosen to cope well with low-tunings and aggressive performances, enhancing the Blackjack SLS's capability as a metal guitar.
