For 30 years Joe Satriani has chosen Ibanez guitars to deliver his brand of high-octane instrumental rock music. Ibanez guitars are renowned for their playabilty and versatile tones, and Joe is just one of many players who have chosen Ibanez to meet their technical and tonal demands. The JS Series features Joe's signature appointments giving you a balance between tonal versatility and effortless playability.
The JS140 is equipped with a Quantum humbucker in the bridge and a single-coil sized Infinity RD humbucker in the neck position. These two units give you access to a wide range of sounds, from smooth and sustained lead playing to crunchy chords and riffs. The coils can be split via the tone pot push-pull switch, doubling the capability of the 3-way pickup selector and giving single-coil sounds for clean picking, mellow chords, or biting lead tones.
The JS Series body shape is smoothly contoured and enables a comfortable playing-feel whether stood up or sat down. It also has deep cutaways for effortless top-fret access, enabling the most challenging of high-range soloing techniques. Basswood is a lightweight tonewood and delivers a balanced tonal response letting it adapt to many different sounds and styles.
The maple neck has a medium-thin profile that enables a confident grip while the 240mm radius is slightly-rounded for a balance between vintage and modern playing feels. 24 frets enable a full 2-octave range on each string, so you'll have no problems shredding at the top of the neck.
Joe Satriani is known for his wild tremolo bar antics, regularly creating shifted harmonics and dive-bombs. If you want to produce the same effects, you need a double-locking system to keep your strings in tune and returning to pitch. The Edge Zero II is designed for this very purpose, and its lower-profile design means it feels comfortable under the right-hand.
