The additional 5th string on this redesigned Gibson EB Bass Guitar offers a wide range of tonal options. Players can achieve more lower pitched notes, and also more freedom around the fingerboard as certain notes can be reached in one position unlike standard four string basses.
The new Gibson EB T 5 String Bass Guitar combines a solid swamp ash body and glued-in maple neck. Swamp ash is taken from the lower portions of southern-grown wetland trees that have root systems growing below water level in the swamps of the southern USA. It is a popular material best known as the wood of classic guitars from the 1950s. Swamp-ash is renowned for producing a twangy, airy, and sweet sound, and offers firm lows, pleasant highs, along with a good sustain. Good swamp ash is light and resonant, and generally carries a broad grain that looks great under a translucent finish such as the vintage sunburst satin finish. This elegant satin finish provides a matt texture and is therefore an ideal choice for gigging bassists, as it wont glare under stage lighting, and also looks good on photographs compared to a high-gloss finish.
In addition to this swamp ash body, a glued-in maple neck adds punch and clarity to the mix, and feels superbly playable with its comfy rounded profile. Its elegant rosewood fingerboard follows the full 34" scale length, and carries 24 polished frets, all easily reached by the playing hand thanks to the EB Bass's new offset double-cutaway styling.
The new EB Bass’s unprecedented blend of power, fidelity, and versatility comes courtesy of an incredible pair of Gibson bass humbuckers including an EB Rhythm and an EB Lead, that give bassists a tonal variety. This choice of pickups delivers true Gibson tones on the heavy low end and can be easily tweaked with two independent volume controls, and master tone.
The new 2017 Gibson EB T Bass Guitar features a Babicz Full Contact bridge, which offers full contact between the vibrating string and the body of the instrument. Jeff Babicz designed this innovative bridge with the intent of gaining the maximum amount of direct string coupling to the body of the instrument, with over 50 times more contact surface per saddle compared to conventional saddle designs. Overall, this cleverly designed bridge delivers an improved tone and sustain.
Gibson has begun using TekToid graphite nuts on many of the new guitars they build, as it offers increased harmonics in the middle and upper frequency range perfect for a rich and detailed tone. TekToid Graphite is the best high-tech cure for eliminating undesirable friction within the nut, which can cause tuning problems. It is the ideal choice for a guitar nut, as it has excellent conductive qualities, which overall benefit a guitar’s tone and sustain.
This stunning redesigned five string EB T Bass Guitar comes complete with padded gigbag for safely transporting your beloved instrument from gig to gig. If that's not enough, it also includes a strap and a polishing cloth to get you started.
