The Malekko Varigate 8+ features two quantized CV outputs, labelled CV 1 and CV 2. Connect these to modules that are equipped with 1V/Oct inputs for pitch changes. You can also change the note of each step by pressing either CV 1 or CV 2. The NOTE button will automatically light up, enabling you to adjust the sliders for each step you wish to adjust. On top of this, the Varigate 8+ allows you to add glide to a step. To do this, simply select the gate you wish to adjust, press one of the CV buttons, and then press the GLIDE button before adjusting one of the step sliders.
The Varigate 8+ features a handy and unique SONG mode. This allows you to program presets to play automatically. Simply hold the SONG button while you select various GATE/PRESET buttons (dependent on the order you desire them to play in). You can set any of the presets to play more than once in a row by pushing the desired preset button more than once. The SONG button doesn't have to be lit to program the presets, and they can be programmed while the Varigate is playing. When you have finished programming, simply press the SONG button again so that it lights up. Pressing the button again will exit SONG mode. Songs can be overwritten at will using the same process.
Track mode allows you to access the extra slider features and functions for that particular pattern/sequence, preset, or bank, dependent on the parameters you wish to adjust. These functions consist of the following:
